Training Simulator Products and Services

nHance provides training simulators designed to fit the needs of each client. We can develop turnkey training simulators for clients, using plant design and operational data provided by the client. nHance also provides simulator software and consultation for clients who are developing their own simulator or who are using a third party to develop their simulator. Our software can interface with third-party simulation software, affording exceptional flexibility, especially for upgrades.

nHance’s training simulator contains the process modeling system as well as instructor and operator stations, which are vital constituents of any training simulator. The instructor station contains simulator runtime executive and trending graphics; the operator stations are the trainee interfaces to the operating simulator.

Control System Simulation/Emulation Products

nHance offers a broad scope of DCS HMI emulation, hard-panel emulation, and control logic simulation software tools and services to the process and utility industries. These tools capture the “look and feel” of the actual display/input devices while operating on cost-effective PCs using Windows NT/200/XP. In addition, they provide the ultimate efficiency for interacting with the simulator’s plant model with instructor features such as snapshot, run, freeze, save, initialization, backtrack, and time scaling that permits faster than real-time operation. These tools include:

HMI Emulation – PC based emulation of control system operator stations.
Hard Panel Emulation – PC based emulation of control system hard panels.
Control Logic Simulation – PC based simulation of control hardware and logic implementation.

Nuclear Training Simulator Upgrades

Many nuclear plants are considering or are in the process of upgrading their plants, frequently as part of an overall life-extension plan. A major consideration for life-extension is the replacement of the original analog control systems with more current digital control systems. The digital systems typically do not use the hard-panel controls as an operator interface, but instead use graphical based software displayed on monitors with touch-screens, mice, etc. as input devices. When these upgrades occur, the nuclear training simulators must be upgraded to properly reflect the changes in the plant control room. nHance has developed the products to assist nuclear plant simulator owners to upgrade the simulators for the digital controllers (see technical papers 1 and 2). nHance has provided precise emulation of control workstation displays for over ten years along with the simulator data communications required to interface with existing nuclear simulator plant models.
